High Court - CBI failed to prove Talwars guilty, can't convict on basis of suspicion

The question that now arises is whether the CBI will file an appeal against the judgment. An official statement is awaited from the CBI shortly. The Allahabad Court said, CBI has failed to prove that the Talwars are guilty, hence we cannot hold they convicts only on the base of suspicion. We must give a benefit of doubt to the parents. The couple were awarded life sentence by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad on November 26, 2013. The Allahabad High Court has said that there was no chain of evidence and we can't convict the parents on the basis of mere suspicion. Occurrence of events- May 16, 2008: Aarushi Talwar was found dead in her bedroom, the domestic help Hemraj was suspected of the murder. May 17:  The next day Hemraj's body was found on the terrace of the residential building. May 23: Aarushi's father Rajesh Talwar was arrested as the key accused. June 1: CBI took over the probe in the case. June 13: Talwar's domestic help Krishna arrested by CBI. July 12: Rajesh Talwar was granted bail. December 29: CBI submits closure report. Clean chit to servants, however parents were under the radar. November, 2013: Rajesh and Nupur were convicted for the double murder and sentenced to life imprisonment by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad. September 7, 2017: Allahabad HC bench reserves judgment on parents' plea and fixes October 12 as the date of verdict. October 12, 2017: Allahabad HC acquits Aarushi's parents. -PTC News
