Hockey: India starts with a bang defeats Japan 6-0: India made a dream start in the four-nation Invitation Hockey Tournament at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand with a fluent 6-0 win over Japan on Thursday. India led 3-0 at the half time. The hosts New Zealand and Belgium are other teams in the competition.
In the second half, India continued its dominance and scored three more, including a penalty coner conversion by Harmanpreet Singh in the 42nd minute.With this win India has taken maximum three points from the game.
Since skipper Manpreet Singh could not play the opening game, the team was led by Chingelsana. Goalkeeper Sreejesh also made his return to the team after a long absence due to injury. He, however, was replaced in the second half.
The game was watched by members of the Indian Under-19 cricket team that is down under to play in the Under-19 Word Cup.
