2022 Punjab Assembly elections to be contest between SAD and Congress: Bikram Singh Majithia
Punjab Municipal Election 2021 result: Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Wednesday said the people of Punjab had given a clear signal in the MC elections that the 2022 Punjab assembly elections would be a straight contest between the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Congress party.
“Past history shows that the party which is the runner up in the municipal elections emerges victorious in the assembly elections”, he said on 2022 Punjab Assembly Elections.

Bikram Singh Majithia said if the Congress had anyone to thank for its victory in the MC election it was Punjab Police chief Dinkar Gupta and State chief secretary Vinni Mahajan.
“I am sure Pradesh Congress President Sunil Jakhar must be visiting them to thank them for working in tandem to ensure Congress wins in the municipal polls,” he said, adding that the Punjab Police worked in coordination with various civil functionaries to intimidate opposition candidates and their supporters.

“This and this alone is the reason for the Congress win today”, he said adding that State Election Commissioner Jagpal Singh Sandhu had also contributed his might to this process by refusing to act on any report of Congress highhandedness.
Majithia said while elections were not held to nearly forty percent of the seats where nomination papers of the opposition were rejected, Congress goons resorted to large-scale violence, bogus voting, and even captured booths at various places.
He said despite this state of affairs, SAD candidates had stood their ground in Majha and deserved congratulations.
