Amid Covid surge, now Himachal Pradesh imposes curfew

Shimla: Amid rising cases of Covid-19, the Himachal Pradesh Government on Wednesday announced a statewide night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am.

"Night curfew to be imposed from 10 pm to 5 am throughout the hill state, besides the closure of indoor sports complexes, cinema halls, multiplexes, stadia, swimming pools, gyms and langers," said Himachal Pradesh minister Suresh Bhardwaj, adding that 50 per cent of gatherings would be allowed at marriage and banquet halls.


As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are 859 active Covid-19 cases in the state.

There is also weekend curfew. Maharashtra: The Mumbai Police has issued an order prohibiting people from visiting beaches, open grounds, sea faces, promenades, gardens, parks, or similar public places between 5 pm and 5 am daily till January 15 due to a rise in Omicron cases. In weddings, the maximum number of attendees shall be restricted to 50 persons. In the case of the last rites, only 20 persons will be allowed. West Bengal: The West Bengal Government has enforced stricter curbs amid the spike in Covid-19 cases. All educational institutes have been shut from January 3. Essential services will be permitted between 10 pm and 5 am in the state. Malls and marketplaces would be allowed to remain open till 10 pm, but with 50% of their capacity. Only full-vaccinated people will be allowed to enter public transport, hotels, restaurants, malls, and grain markets.
