Bollywood actor Ayushman Khurrana gets threatening audio demanding extortion in Bishnoi gangs name
Police are trying to verify the identity of the sender. Investigators are analysing the voice in the audio clip and comparing it with a voice sample of the suspected person, whose details are already available in police records.
PTC News Desk: Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly received a threatening audio message from a man claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The sender allegedly demanded crores of rupees, Mumbai Police sources said on Wednesday.
Police are trying to verify the identity of the sender. Investigators are analysing the voice in the audio clip and comparing it with a voice sample of the suspected person, whose details are already available in police records.
The incident came a day after reports emerged that actor Tusshar Kapoor had received an extortion call from a person claiming to be linked to the Bishnoi gang.
Police are investigating whether the threats received by the two actors are connected. They are also trying to identify the people behind the messages and determine whether the actors are facing a genuine threat or are being targeted by individuals attempting to intimidate them.
The alleged threats have raised concerns following a firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai last month.
Tusshar Kapoor's call suspected to be hoax
The person who allegedly threatened Tusshar Kapoor identified himself as Harry Boxer, a suspected associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, and demanded Rs 5 crore.
However, Mumbai Police later suspected that the call was a hoax.
The Crime Branch's technical team analysed the audio recording and compared the caller's voice with an official sample of Harry Boxer available in its records.
According to senior police officials, the initial analysis found that the two voices did not match. This led investigators to suspect that the caller may have falsely used the Bishnoi gang's name to threaten the actor.
Khurrana's film continuous theatrical run
The alleged threat to Ayushmann Khurrana comes as his spy comedy, Udta Teer, continues to run in theatres.
The film, which also stars Sara Ali Khan, earned Rs 19.45 crore nett at the Indian box office during its opening weekend.
