Diljit Dosanjh Indore concert: Four songs banned, manager served notice after Chandigarh professors plaint
Dosanjh is currently performing as part of his Aura India Tour, and the Indore concert will be his second show in India.
PTC News Desk: The second leg of Diljit Dosanjh's Aura India Tour 2026 is all set to take place in Indore on November 15. However the Punjabi singer will not be allowed to perform four of his songs during the concert following a complaint by Chandigarh-based professor Pandit Rao Dharennavar, who argued that songs glorifying alcohol, drugs and violence could adversely influence children.
According to a report, the District Child Protection Officer, Women and Child Development Department, Indore, issued a directive to the management of C-21 Mall on November 6, asking it to ensure that the songs — 'Patiala Peg', '5 Taara Theke', 'Case (Jeb Vichon Afeem Labhiya)' and 'Jatt Fire Karda' — are not performed during the concert.
The letter states that the lyrics of these songs could have a harmful effect on young children. It refers to a July 22, 2019, order issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court and asks the organisers to follow its directions. Children aged five years and above will be allowed to attend the concert.
Dosanjh is currently performing as part of his Aura India Tour, and the Indore concert will be his second show in India. A complaint had also been filed over one of his earlier performances. Meanwhile, addressing the concerns around the concert, Diljit he would visit Indore and even made a special mention of the city's famous poha.
"I will visit Indore on 15th of November. I will have poha first after visiting Indore. Anyone can say anything, but I will meet you in Indore on 15th November. I have heard in the news that there will be some 'sankat'. But we know how to handle this. Do they know who are we?" he said.
Professor's complaint seeks three restrictions
Professor Dharennavar approached the District Child Protection Officer, asking for a ban on four songs, even if their lyrics were changed. He also requested that children should not be invited on stage, raising concerns about loud music and flashing lights during the concert.
His third objection was to Dosanjh wearing two silver-coloured bullet belts, or imitation bullets, across his chest. The complaint claimed that such displays promote gun culture and violence and could negatively influence young audiences.
Earlier this week, three private schools and the office of Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava received bomb threat emails reportedly linked to Diljit's upcoming concert. The emails warned of a possible bomb blast during the November 15 event and advised schools not to send students to the concert.
After receiving the threats, bomb disposal teams searched all three schools but found no explosives. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya said the initial investigation suggested that the emails could be hoaxes. The crime branch is examining technical evidence to identify those behind the emails.
The Indore concert is part of Diljit's ongoing AURA India Tour 2026. The singer began the India leg of the tour with a performance in Delhi. He is scheduled to perform in Indore on November 15, followed by Ahmedabad on November 21, Mumbai on November 27, Bengaluru on November 29, Lucknow on December 5, Chandigarh on December 12 and Kolkata on December 19.
These objections come amid growing uncertainty over the singer's November 15 concert. The event has been in the news due to security concerns, bomb threat emails and restrictions on some songs in his setlist.
