Katrina Kaif faces brutal online trolling over her post-pregnancy appearance; netizens slam body shamers
Katrina Kaif faced brutal online trolling over her post-pregnancy appearance at Ambani Ganesh Chaturthi bash. Here's how content creators and experts are pushing back against the body-shaming
PTC Web Desk: When Katrina Kaif stepped out with husband Vicky Kaushal for the Ambani family's Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Antilia on September 14, it should have been a simple festive appearance. Her first big public outing in a while, dressed in traditional attire beside her husband.
Instead, social media turned ugly almost instantly. "Before and after" collages started circulating on Instagram, placing Katrina's pre-pregnancy photos next to fresh images from the Ambani event, with users picking apart the visible changes in her body since giving birth.
But the backlash triggered its own backlash. Several women online pushed back hard against the unfair scrutiny placed on new mothers, especially those in the public eye.
Content creator Tarini Peshawaria, who describes herself as a mom who talks about beauty and wellness, posted a video on September 16 calling out the trend. She pointed out that people seem to forget something basic — a woman's body naturally changes after childbirth. Tarini shared that she personally struggled for over two years to lose her own baby weight and often felt like she had no public figure to relate to during that phase. Seeing Katrina embrace her post-baby body without rushing to "snap back," she said, could be healing for countless women silently going through the same thing.
MICA marketing professor and content creator Falguni Vasavada also weighed in the same day, mocking the double standards women face — expected to become mothers yet look untouched by it, expected to age yet stay eternally youthful. She reminded critics that Katrina co-founded Kay Beauty, a company with massive annual revenue, and questioned why her looks were being debated instead of her accomplishments.
Katrina, who turned 42 in mid-2025, welcomed her first child with Vicky Kaushal in November 2025. Medical experts note that postpartum body changes are entirely normal. A women's health physiotherapist explained that the uterus takes time to shrink back to its original size after delivery, a process called involution, which is why the belly often doesn't flatten immediately. Breastfeeding can help speed this along through hormone release, while conditions like diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation) may need physiotherapy support rather than crash workouts.
The larger conversation now unfolding online is less about one actor's appearance and more about how differently society treats women's bodies after childbirth compared to men aging in the public eye.
