Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri has regretted missed opportunities as the hosts just managed to draw against Bangladesh in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers match at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata, on Tuesday. Sunil accepted the failure and the inability to score a goal against its neighbours Bangladesh in a match in which it trailed till the 87th minute.

However, Adil Khan turned out to be a savior, as he scored a goal with an exceptional header from a corner kick in the 88th minute to level the score and rescue the home team. Bangladesh is 83 places below India, in the FIFA ranking.

There were too many chances for India but it failed to capitalize on them. The head coach Igor Stimac was disappointed with the results as said he expected his team to defeat Bangladesh. Sunil Chhetri took his disappointment to twitter.

He wrote: “We couldn't deliver a performance to match the atmosphere at Salt Lake last night, and the dressing room is very disappointed about it. We couldn’t capitalize on the chances we got, but this is a process on the pitch and in the stands. You turned up, we'll keep attempting to.”

India still has a chance, as it has four more matches left against Oman, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Qatar in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 2022.
