'Road may be tough but...': Mohammed Shami shares injury update

PTC News Desk: Mohammed Shami, an Indian fast bowler, posted an injury update and a photo on Instagram showing him walking on crutches. The speedster hasn't played cricket since the ODI World Cup final against Australia on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

“Back on track and hungry for success. The road may be tough, but the destination is worth it,” Shami captioned the post.

Shami has been fighting injuries and going through various surgical procedures. Initially, he suffered from a persistent heel issue that required surgery in February 2024, ruling him out of the IPL and prompting him to post an optimistic update on his recovery on social media.

After the stitches were removed after 15 days, Shami expressed gratitude for his progress and looked forward to the next stage of his recovery. Shami's absence is not limited to the IPL; he has also been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2024 due to his ongoing recovery process.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Shami would likely return during India's home series against Bangladesh in September 2024, implying that his participation in the T20 World Cup is uncertain.
