An earthquake of 3.4 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district on Thursday afternoon. There was no report of any casualty or damage to property, officials said.

The epicenter was 10 km north-east of Mandi. According to the Indian Meteorological department (IMD), tremors were felt in and around the district at 12.44pm.
Light to moderate intensity earthquakes are common in Himachal Pradesh, which falls under seismic zone five.

On Tuesday, an earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale hit Chamba district. In 1905, a devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale flattened Kangra district, killing over 20,000 people.
