Hockey News: Former Indian hockey player and a coach Ranjit Singh is no more.
Ranjit Singh, who accompanied Indian hockey teams to the Sydney Olympic games and the Busan Asian Games as a trainer, had settled in Tarrasa, Spain.
On September 25 he celebrated his 71st birthday. And the next day he left for his heavenly abode. He was with his daughter Rosa in England when the end came.
Ranjit, who belonged to Delhi, also played for Indian Airlines besides representing the country in some international games. He was a contemporary of Balbir Singh (Railways).
After retiring from active hockey, he took to coaching and remained associated with the training of Indian teams.
In Spain, he was also very popular as a Hockey man. He remained associated with various clubs and trained youngsters besides supplying hockey equipment in general and hockey sticks in particular. He followed hockey news stories till his last day.
