Jeremy, who will complete 16 years on October 26, could not have given a better birthday return gift to India. His clear lifts of 124 kg in snatch and 150 kg clean and jerk made him a clear winner while the second placed Caner Taptos of Turkey could aggregate only 263 kg.

Jeremy has become country's first ever Youth Olympic gold medalist.

Other lifter on show last night was Sneha Soren in 48 kg for women. She finished fifth with an aggregated lift of 151 kg.

India has already won four medals, including a gold and three silver medals, in the 3rd edition of Youth Olympic Games so far.
