Haryana borewell incident: A four-year-old boy accidentally fell into a 220-foot-deep borewell in Haryana's Ambala district on Tuesday morning, A large-scale rescue operation is now underway to rescue the child.
The child, identified as Nirbhay Singh, reportedly fell into the open borewell around 7 am in Dhaneora village while he was in the fields with his uncle and cousin.
According to officials, Nirbhay had gone to the fields with his family members when he accidentally slipped into the uncovered borewell, which had been dug for a tubewell.
After hearing the child's cries for help, the family immediately alerted nearby villagers and informed the police. The district administration was soon informed and rescue teams were rushed to the spot.
Ambala Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomar reached the site to monitor the rescue operation.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) started the rescue work soon after the incident. Later, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Indian Army also joined the operation to speed up the efforts. Officials have lowered a camera into the borewell to keep track of the child's condition and movements.
According to the district administration, Nirbhay is visible through the camera and is said to be stable. Rescue teams are also sending essential supplies whenever required while working to bring him out safely.
Speaking about the operation, the Deputy Commissioner said all agencies concerned are working together to rescue the child as quickly as possible. Heavy machinery and technical equipment are being used at the site as officials continue their efforts to reach the boy safely.
