SC refuses urgent hearing of PIL seeking CBI probe into Ram Temple fund embezzlement

PTC News Desk: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to urgently list a plea seeking court-monitored, time-bound investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the Ram Temple donation scam case, saying the matter would be taken up after the court reopens.

The petition asked the court to order an SIT investigation under the court’s supervision into the matter. However, the Supreme Court declined to hear the case urgently. When the matter was mentioned, the judges asked why immediate action was needed, saying, “What’s the urgency?”

The court also remarked that “heavens are not going to fall” if the case is taken up after the court reopens. It then directed that the petition be listed for hearing once the court resumes work after the vacation.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the alleged theft of donations from the Ram Temple has moved towards tracking the money trail. Police are closely examining the assets and financial dealings of Anukalp Mishra, one of the main accused. Investigators are trying to find out whether properties and other assets he allegedly acquired in recent years were bought using money taken from devotees’ donations. His bank accounts, investments and recent expenses are also being scrutinised.

According to police sources, Anukalp worked for the outsourced agency responsible for counting cash donations at the Ram Temple. Investigators believe he played a key role in the alleged misappropriation of donation funds.

The probe has also revealed the alleged involvement of his brother-in-law, Lavkush Mishra. Police say Anukalp helped Lavkush get a job in the same cash-counting team through the outsourcing agency. Both are among the eight people arrested so far in the case.
