Centre okays Rajpura-Chandigarh railway line project, aims at upgrading Amritsar railway station

While confirming the development Union minister of state Ravneet Bittu said that the project is expected to get completed in two years.

PTC News Desk: The central government has approved the railway line project linking Rajpura to Chandigarh and a budget of Rs 202.99 cr has been allotted for the project. This track will be spanned across approximately 24 km.


While confirming the development Union minister of state Ravneet Bittu said that the project is expected to get completed in two years. Upon completion of the project, entire Malwa belt will be connected with the capital city via railway medium.



Union state minister for railways said that as part of the project two separate lines, Ferozpur to Patti and Talwandi Sabo will be constructed. He also emphasised that soon the Amritsar railway station will also be revamped. 


Another 5 km long line has been approved from Rajpura so that there is no need to change the train's engine while going to Chandigarh. The flourishing industry in Rajpura will be highly beneficial from the construction of this railway line. The project will also facilitate easy transportation for the people travelling from Rajpura to Chandigarh
