PTC Web Desk: A significant change in weather conditions is likely across Punjab from May 28, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain, thunderstorms and hailstorms in several districts.
IMD scientist Shivinder Singh said weather conditions remained completely dry across Punjab during the past 24 hours. However, the department expects a sudden shift in weather activity on May 28 and 29.
According to the forecast, strong winds with speeds of 60 to 70 kmph, accompanied by lightning, rainfall and hailstorms, may affect many parts of the state. Districts, including Mohali, Patiala, Rupnagar, Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur are likely to witness adverse weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a severe heatwave warning for May 27 in several districts, including Ludhiana, Bathinda, Mansa and Sangrur.
Authorities have advised people to avoid direct exposure to the sun during afternoon hours as intense heat and hot winds may increase discomfort and health risks.
