Punjab Police foil terror plot targeting police establishments, seize IED in Amritsar
According to police, the recovered explosive material was allegedly intended to carry out a major attack.
PTC News Desk: Amritsar Rural Police have foiled an alleged terror conspiracy aimed at targeting a police establishment. During the operation, police recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing 690 grams. Electronic detonators, a battery, a timer and an iron box were also seized.
Bomb disposal squad defuses IED
According to police, the recovered explosive material was allegedly intended to carry out a major attack. The police detected the plot in time and prevented a possible tragedy.
Following the recovery of the IED and other explosive materials, the area was secured and a bomb disposal squad was called to the spot. The team safely defused the explosive device by following standard safety procedures.
The operation helped prevent possible damage to the police establishment and the surrounding area.
Amritsar Rural Police described the operation as a major success in foiling a conspiracy by anti-national elements. Police are now investigating who was behind the alleged plot and whether they received assistance from others.
