Blinkit launches quick-commerce service at Mumbai airport, delivers 2,500+ items inside terminal
Blinkit starts its quick-commerce service at Mumbai’s Terminal 2, allowing passengers to order over 2,500 items inside the airport after security check. Here’s how it works
Blinkit at Mumbai airport: Quick-commerce platform Blinkit has introduced its services inside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai from April 1. The service is currently available at Terminal 2 for domestic departures.
This new initiative comes through Blinkit’s partnership with Adani Airports. Travellers can now order from over 2,500 products, including phone chargers, books, gifts, snacks, and other essentials, directly through the Blinkit app.
Unlike regular deliveries done by bikes, orders inside the airport will be delivered on foot by Blinkit’s team within the terminal. A dedicated “dark store” has also been set up inside the airport to ensure quick service. This is said to be the first service of its kind at any airport in the world.
Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa shared the update on social media platform X, saying the company is excited to help travellers with last-minute needs. He also advised users to update their app to access the feature.
Passengers can receive their orders after completing the security check at designated points inside the terminal.
The launch has received mixed reactions online. While some users praised the idea, others raised questions about pricing compared to airport shops and the possibility of returning items. A few also wondered if the announcement was an April Fool’s Day prank.
Many users expressed excitement and requested the service to be introduced at other airports like Bengaluru and Delhi as well.
