India records highest COVID-19 cases in over 7 months

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 4,47,76,002, with the count of active cases increasing to 40,215.

Covid-19 cases spike: India has recorded a single-day rise of 7,830 new coronavirus cases, the highest in over 7 months. 

According to the data from Union Health Ministry, sixteen fatalities due to COVID-19 were also reported in the last 24 hours, with two each in Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, and one each in Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, and five reconciled by Kerala.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 4,47,76,002, with the count of active cases increasing to 40,215. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.72 per cent, and the number of those who have recovered from the disease has surged to 4,42,04,771.

The case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent, and 220.66 crore doses of vaccines have been administered in the country so far as part of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.
