PM Modi's visit to France strengthens defense collaboration and celebrates Bastille Day with Rafale Jets

PM Modi aims to strengthen the enduring partnership by engaging in comprehensive discussions with the French President

New Delhi, July 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on a two-day visit to Paris with the objective of enhancing the bilateral relations between India and France, particularly in the areas of defense and space. Prior to his departure, PM Modi expressed his intention to engage in comprehensive discussions with the French President to further strengthen the longstanding and fruitful partnership.

This year holds special significance as it marks the 25th anniversary of the strategic partnership between India and France.

The partnership is deeply rooted in trust and commitment, encompassing collaboration across various sectors such as defense, space, civil nuclear, blue economy, trade, investment, education, culture, and people-to-people ties. Additionally, the two countries work together on regional and global issues, further solidifying their alliance.


In a statement, PM Modi stated, "I look forward to meeting President Macron and holding wide-ranging discussions on taking forward this longstanding and time-tested partnership over the next 25 years."


During his visit, PM Modi will be honored as the guest of honor at the annual Bastille Day Parade. The parade will feature a 269-member contingent from the Indian tri-services, showcasing the country's military prowess. Notably, three Rafale fighter jets from the Indian Air Force will participate in the flypast alongside their French counterparts, symbolizing the close defense cooperation between the two nations.

The visit of PM Modi to France highlights the importance of the bilateral relationship and aims to further strengthen the ties between India and France in various strategic areas, including defense collaboration and joint celebrations of Bastille Day.
