Two Maoists arrested in Ropar

Ropar (Pb), Sep 3 (PTI) Police today claimed to have

arrested two Maoists and recovered a country made pistol, cartridges

and a knife from their possession.

The have been identified as Madeep Yadav alias Matlu and Sanoj Yadav

alias Bhikhari Yadav, both residents of Gaya in Bihar, police said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varinderpal Singh said both

the Maoists were associated with Bihar-Jharkhand Special Area Committee

(BISAC) CPI Maowadi group.

On a tip-off, the duo was arrested. They were staying at a 'dhaba'

(road side eatery) near a bus stand here, he said.

Madeep Yadav was zonal commander and Sanoj Yadav was area commander

of the banned organisation, the SSP said.

They were involved in violent incidents in Bihar and Jharkhand in

2014 and 2015 and hiding in Ropar and Nawanshahr districts, he said.

They have confessed to their involvement in killing of 15 activists

of Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) in Bisrapur in Malamu district

in 2014 and burning of 35 vehicles in 2015 at Madanpura in Aurangabad

district of Bihar, he added.

The SSP said police of Bihar and Jharkhand have been informed about

their arrests.

A case under various Sections of Arms Act was registered against

them, he said, adding, further investigation is under progress
