Women's Cricket included in Commonwealth Games 2022

The Commonwealth Games Federation earlier nominated the Women's Cricket to be the part of the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022 which is scheduled to be held in Birmingham. Meanwhile, acting on a joint bid last November by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) nominated the Women's Cricket to be the part of the competition.

The inclusion of Women's Cricket in Commonwealth Games 2022 went under the litmus test as it needed to be ratified by 51 percent of the CGF's Association comprised of 71 Members, also which is a mere formality now. The Women's Cricket inclusion in Commonwealth Games has been approved, and now the competition will be played at Edgbaston and will feature, eight teams. This will surely boost up the players for playing in Commonwealth Games 2022.

It was the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Malaysia when Cricket was included where South Africa finished on the top of the podium while Australia and New Zealand grabbed Silver and bronze medal respectively. Also, ICC Women's World Cup 2021 has announced the dates, which will begin from January 30 and will be hosted by New Zealand, following the two men's and a women event hosted by the country.
