Anirudh Tiwari replaces Vini Mahajan as Punjab Chief Secretary

Punjab: Anirudh Tiwari, IAS (1990) has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Punjab, sources said on Thursday. He would supersede Vini Mahajan, IAS (1987). After appointing IAS Anirudh Tewari as the Punjab Chief Secretary, the state government has appointed six senior IAS officers as special chief secretaries. Vini Mahajan IAS (1987), Ravneet Kaur (1988), Sanjay Kumar IAS (1988), Vijay Kumar Janjua IAS (1989) and Kripa Shankar Saroj IAS (1989) have been given the post of special chief secretary of the Punjab government. Anirudh Tewari takes charge as Punjab Agricultural University VC He has core skills in framing public policy and operational strategies. Likewise, he has expertise in building organizations, public finance management, project design and implementation, and developing public infrastructure especially with private participation. He even led a campaign to promote private sector investment in the state through innovative and path-breaking governance reforms. Also, he has the unique experience of handling policy formulation and implementation issues related to multilateral financing for development both from the perspective of lender (in his role as Country Coordinator of IFAD- an agency of the United Nations) and as a recipient (while working in the Department of Economic Affairs in the Government of India).
