Bihar's Sakibul Gani becomes first to score triple-century on FC debut
Kolkata (West Bengal), February 18: Bihar cricketer Sakibul Gani scripted history on Friday as he became the first player to score a triple-century on his first-class debut.
Gani set a new world record during the ongoing Ranji Trophy Plate Group match against Mizoram at Jadavpur University Campus 2nd Ground, Kolkata.
He scored 341 runs off just 405 balls with the help of 56 fours and 2 sixes. The batter maintained a strike rate of 84.20.
The 22-year-old Bihar batter broke the record of Madhya Pradesh’s Ajay Rohera who amassed an unbeaten 267 on FC debut against Hyderabad in the 2018/19 Ranji Trophy season.

Apart from his individual milestone, Gani was also part of a 500+ run stand for the fourth wicket along with Babul Kumar who scored a double century as this partnership helped Bihar post the first inning of over 600.
Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane made a century for Mumbai against Saurashtra on Day 1 of the Ranji Trophy on Thursday.
Delhi batter Yash Dhull also hit a century on his first-class debut against Tamil Nadu in Guwahati.
The Ranji Trophy will be split into two phases, with the pre-Indian Premier League (IPL) phase set to take place from February 10 to March 15. From May 30 through June 26, the post-IPL phase will take place. This season's Ranji Trophy will include 64 matches spread over 62 days.
