Washington [US], June 25: 20-year-old singer Billie Eilish spoke out strongly against the US Supreme Court verdict to end the constitutional right to abortion from her position on the stage at Glastonbury. As per the sources, the youngest singer said in front of enormous crowd at the Pyramid Stage, "Today is a really, really dark day for women in the US. I'm just going to say that because I can't bear to think about it any longer." ‘Dark-day’-for-US-women-says-Billie-Eilish-5 Also Read: US Supreme Court overturns Roe v. The youngest singer also became the reason for the top headlines because of her appearance on the Glastonbury stage against the verdict. Another performer to protest the decision was folk star Phoebe Bridgers, who made her debut on the John Peel stage and slammed the old Supreme Court justices "who try to tell us what to do with our bodies," as per the sources. ‘Dark-day’-for-US-women-says-Billie-Eilish-4 The ruling reverses 50 years of precedent since the landmark 1973 case that gave women in the United States the right under federal law to terminate a pregnancy, and a subsequent 1992 decision, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which largely retained the right. The ruling was announced by a majority of conservative justices on Friday and it upholds Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban, which directly clashed with Roe's requirement that states permit abortion up to the point of fetal viability, around 24 weeks. "The Court finds that the right to abortion is not deeply rooted in the Nation's history and tradition," read the Court's announcement on Friday. ‘Dark-day’-for-US-women-says-Billie-Eilish-3 Also Read: Assam flood death tally reaches 117; over 33 lakhs still hit in 28 districts  Meanwhile, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of pregnant women's right to an abortion without undue government restrictions in the Roe v.
