Canada: As many as 250 Indian community members held a parade from Parliament to City Hall in Ottawa on August 18 to celebrate India’s Independence Day 2019. Meanwhile, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson and Canada Minister Lisa MacLeod attended the flag-hoisting. Also, there were banners which were supporting the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, were seen in the parade.

Likewise, Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau released a statement on India’s Independence Day 2019. He said, “Today, we join the people of India and the Indo-Canadian community to celebrate India’s 73rd Independence Day. Justin Trudeau shared a statement on his official website, in which he wrote, “Canada is proud to have strong diplomatic relations with India, established since the country’s independence.”

Furthermore, he said, “Today, India is the largest democracy in the world. Canada and India share much in common and our tremendous people-to-people ties are at the heart of our longstanding friendship. Over one million people of Indian descent call Canada home.” Meanwhile, the parade held from Canada’s Parliament to City Hall in Ottawa. The parade also had some banners who were supporting the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.

The other world leaders are supporting the abrogation of Article 370, while Pakistan is still adamant on downgrading diplomatic relations with India. In fact, there was no exchange of sweets on Border from Pakistan on their Independence Day 2019.
