Olympic champions Argentina came from behind to beat the hosts the Netherlands 2-1 on the opening day of the farewell edition of the Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament at Breda on Saturday.
The Netherlands led 1-0 at the breather.
The match winner came in the last minute of the game when Matias Paredes scored the goal. The goal was contested by the home team. The video referral, however, upheld the decision of the field umpire.
Gonzalo Peillat reconfirmed his authority over taking penalty corners. He pelted home the equaliser in the fourth minute of the second half.
Once on parity, the South Americans were into the game with redoubled vigour making the Netherlands defend its citadel.
The fourth quarter witnessed some fast and crisp hockey with equally tantalising moves from both sides. But it was Argentina that made use of its opportunities and scored a brilliant field goal in the last minute to make a winning start and earned full points.
So India and Argentina start the first day with full points. Tomorrow they play each other.
