CM CONDEMNS KILLING OF PUNJABI YOUTH IN AUSTRALIA , DESCRIBES THE ATTACK AS "INHUMAN, BRUTAL AND EXTREMELY WORRYING" ; REQUESTS PM TO INTERVENE
Chandigarh, October 29 - The Punjab Chief Minster Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today strongly condemned the barbaric act of killing of a Punjabi youth Mr. Manmeet Alisher in Australia’s Brisbane city on Friday. In a statement here, the Chief Minister described the attack as "inhuman, brutal and extremely worrying" and asked the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi to take up with his counterpart in the Australia the issue of safety and security of minorities, especially of the law abiding members of the Punjabi Diaspora, which have been living in the Australia and many other countries for decades as "most civilized and productive members of the local society. He said that the attack was shocking and totally unacceptable as the amass contribution of Punjabis was acknowledged and highly lauded by governments as well as political and social leaders in the countries of their adoption. The Chief Minister has asked the Government of India (GoI) to press the Indian High Commissioner in Australia to ensure safety and security of Punjabis living in the country.
