Only dog that tested positive for coronavirus, dies

The first dog in the world to get infected with coronavirus has passed away in Hong Kong after it was declared disease-free and returned from quarantine. The Pomeranian, whose owner also tested positive last month, had been in quarantine at a government facility but returned home over the weekend. The dog's owner has been identified as 60-year-old businesswoman Yvonne Chow Hau Yee. She was also infected at the end of February and was hospitalised. Fortunately, she recovered and returned home on March 8. The City’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) had stated that the dog had a low level of infection. Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation for Animal Health has agreed that it might be a case of human-to-animal transmission as there were no coronavirus symptoms in the dog. To this, Hong Kong had issued an advisory that all the pets infected with the pandemic must be isolated for at least 14 days. The World Health Organization stated that the dog was the only known canine to have diagnosed with the deadly disease.
