Ludhiana Police Commissioner IPS Rakesh Aggarwal, in an order to avoid social gatherings, announced that whosoever was found violating curfew norms or was seen roaming outside their houses would be sent to jail.
Meanwhile, the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana has been converted into a temporary jail. On Tuesday, around 60 people were arrested who would be released after 15 days.
Earlier on Monday, a 42-year-old woman died in Ludhiana. It was the first death in Ludhiana due to the novel coronavirus. Meanwhile, the death toll in Punjab increased to 4 after a Mohali resident died due to coronavirus. A 65-year-old man, a resident of Nayagaon, who was admitted at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, passed away on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Punjab has reported 41 coronavirus cases so far out of which one has been cured and discharged while four people have died.
Punjab curfew extended
Punjab Government on Monday announced the extension of the curfew till April 14 amid growing concerns over the spread of coronavirus. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh asked to seal the borders in an order to prevent the spread of the pandemic. Likewise, Punjab CM has asked the Finance Minister to come out with a plan, to overcome the coronavirus crisis.
