Mohali reports 5 new cases of coronavirus, active cases goes up to 15

After a gap of two days, Mohali reported five new positive cases of coronavirus, Girish Dayalan, Deputy Commissioner said on Wednesday. The new cases include a 40-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman from Banur. Reportedly, the female is pregnant and she was found positive during the prenatal check-up. Likewise, it has been reported that two positive cases, a 50-year-old female and her 21-year-old son, were reported from Baltana. Another case reported on Wednesday is that of a class IV male employee working at the health centre in, Dhakoli. With the new cases, the total number of coronavirus cases in the district has increased to 116 while the active cases move up to 15. Meanwhile, extensive sampling is underway as around 6,050 samples have been taken in the district so far. Large number of people coming for Carona test due to awareness Mohali was earlier declared corona-free after no case was reported from the district for a long time. However, the district has again started reporting new COVID-19 cases. On Wednesday, Punjab reported a death due to the novel virus, taking the death toll in the state to 47. A COVID-19 patient from Jalandhar died at DMCH, Ludhiana. On Tuesday, an 85-year-old man and 60-year-old from Pathankot succumbed to the disease. Punjab had reported 41 new cases, taking the total count to 2,342 on Tuesday. -PTC News
