Fresh cases of coronavirus reported in Nawanshahr; total cases in Punjab 21

The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has jumped to 21 after 7 fresh cases were reported in Nawanshahr, Rajinder Bhatia, Senior Medical Officer (SMO), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar said on Sunday. According to the information, seven people, who have tested positive for coronavirus in Nawanshahr, had contact with Baldev Singh, who died in Banga civil hospital earlier this week. Likewise, Baldev Singh's six family members were tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday. In the meanwhile, Mohali has recorded 4 cases of the pandemic so far. Amritsar reported another positive case of coronavirus on Saturday. A Hoshiarpur-resident was found positive for Coronavirus in Amritsar, earlier this month.

Lockdown in Punjab

Punjab Government has declared a complete 'lockdown' in the state till March 31 in an order to prevent coronavirus spread. Meanwhile, people are supporting the lockdown in an order to combat the novel coronavirus.

Lockdown in Chandigarh

The Chandigarh Administration on Sunday ordered a complete lockdown in the Union Territory. The Administration decided to impose certain restrictions to prevent the spread of coronavirus. All the non-essential establishments including offices, schools, colleges, factories and other business establishments, etc shall remain closed. Coronavirus in India

India reported a total of 341 cases of coronavirus so far while the numbers are likely to increase. 6 deaths were reported, one each in Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab, Bihar and two from Mumbai. -PTC News
