Punjab: Jalandhar reports another death due to coronavirus
Jalandhar has reported a new death due to coronavirus taking the district death toll to 7. According to the information, a 69-year-old woman succumbed to the disease on Wednesday morning at the civil hospital in Jalandhar. With this, the death toll due to the novel coronavirus has increased to 39. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has also crossed the 2000-mark out of which around 1647 patients have been cured and discharged. Punjab has become the leading state in India to fight the novel coronavirus by achieving a recovery rate of 78 percent, the Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said on Tuesday. 1,57,13,789 persons have been screened by the teams of the Health Department in the month of April. Out of this, 9,593 were found to have symptoms and referred for further management and sampling. However, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has warned that the next 25-30 days would be extremely crucial for containing the spread of the novel coronavirus in the wake of sudden opening up of the economy, as well as office and commercial activity, after a 55-day curfew.
