Covid-19: India logs 1,086 new cases, 71 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi, April 6: India recorded1,086 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday. With this, India's total tally of Covid-19 cases reached 4,30,30,925 while the active cases dipped to 11,871, as per the data updated by the health ministry. The death count surged to 5,21,487 with 71 fresh Covid fatalities. The active cases comprise 0.03 percent of the total Covid case, while the Covid-19 recovery rate in India remained at 98.76 percent, the ministry updated. A decrease of 183 cases has been logged in the active Covid-19 caseload in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.23 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 0.22 percent. The number of people who have recovered from the infection has risen to 4,24,97,567, with a 1.21 percent case fatality rate. Up to April 5, 79,20,27,412 samples had been tested for Covid-19, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). On Tuesday, 4,81,374 of these samples were tested. According to data given by the health department, Delhi recorded 112 new Covid cases on Tuesday, with zero fatalities, and a positive rate of 1.05 percent. The infection count in the national capital has risen to 18,65,494 with 112 new cases, while the death toll has risen to 26,154. On Monday, Delhi reported 82 new Covid-19 cases and one death from the infection, with a positive rate of 1.34 percent.
