Covid-19 vaccination: Over 3.5 lakh children in 15-18 age group register on CoWIN

New Delhi: Over 3.5 lakh beneficiaries of the 15-18 age group have registered themselves on the CoWIN portal to receive Covid-19 vaccine, as on Sunday morning.

As per the data on the CoWin dashboard, 3,57,984 beneficiaries in the 15-18 age group had registered on the portal by 9:30 am. Registrations for vaccinating 15-18-year-old children against Covid-19 began on January 1.

CoWIN is an Indian government web portal for Coviv-19 vaccination registration, owned and operated by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Further, the data on the portal revealed that as many as 92,18,61,878 registrations have been made so far, including 57,37,14,969 of 18-44 age group, and 34,77,88,925 for age above 45.

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement, the country is preparing to begin the Covid-19 vaccination drive for 15-18 age group from Monday.

In the context of the vaccination of the 15-18 age group, the Union Health Secretary informed the states and UTs that only 'Covaxin' is to be administered in this population category and additional doses of 'Covaxin' will be sent to all states and UTs. Those with the birth year of 2007 or before will be eligible for vaccination under this category.

India reports 27,553 new Covid-19 cases; Omicron tally reaches 1,525

India reported 27,553 new Covid-19 cases and 284 deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday. The number of Omicron infections stands at 1,525 and it has spread to 23 states. Read more
