Delhi reports 484 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours

Delhi Covid Update: Despite a significant drop in new Covid-19 cases in recent days, Delhi witnessed a slight uptick in daily new cases on Sunday. The national capital reported 484 new Covid infections in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of active cases in Delhi increased to 2,086, while the daily Covid positive rate also increased to 0.95 percent from 0.83 percent on Saturday, according to an update from Delhi's health department. Meanwhile, Delhi reported three Covid-related deaths on Sunday. On Saturday, the national capital had reported 440 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths.  India records 11,499 fresh Covid-19 cases, 255 deaths in last 24 hours Delhi has lifted all Covid-related restrictions in the capital, citing a steady drop in new Covid cases and deaths. The decision to lift the Covid curbs was made during a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Friday, which was chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal. The Delhi government has also announced that wearing a mask is not mandatory while travelling in private vehicles. As per the Covid update by the Delhi government, the penalty for not wearing face masks in public places has also been reduced from Rs 2,000 to Rs 500. Notably, the Covid restrictions were imposed in December last year after the coronavirus infections had started increasing rapidly in the capital. No more Covid curbs in Haryana Detailing over the Covid guideline, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the DDMA has withdrawn all restrictions as the situation has improved and people were facing hardships due to the loss of jobs. “Schools to function fully offline from 1 Apr. Fines for not wearing masks reduced to Rs 500. All shud continue following Covid Appropriate Behaviour. Govt will keep strict watch,” he had tweeted.
