Disqualify Sukhpal Khaira from the post of MLA, petition moved to Speaker
Harsimran Singh, a voter from the Bholath in Punjab has moved a petition to Rana KP Singh, speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha seeking the disqualification of Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Sukhpal Singh Khaira from membership of the house on Thursday.

Sukhpal Khaira had contested assembly elections in 2017 from Bholath constituency on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket but later on resigned from the primary membership of the party. Sukhpal Khaira had floated a new regional party Punjabi Ekta Party on Wednesday.

The petitioner has filed a petition seeking disqualification of Sukhpal Khaira from the post of MLA under tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India.

According to Petitioner Harsimran Singh ,” a House belonging to any political party shall be disqualified for being a member of the House— if he has voluntarily gives up his membership of such political party”. The Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha is likely to take the issue on Monday
