Chandigarh, May 13: Taking strong cognizance of the complaint given to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes by Amar Singh, DSP (Prisons) of Punjab Police against Punjab Police, District Sangrur, regarding harassment of himself and his family, NCSC Chairman Vijay Sampla has directed Punjab Police.

The NCSC also directed the Punjab Police to file a fresh status report before the date of hearing. publive-imageFiling a written complaint to NCSC President Vijay Sampla, DSP (Prisons) Amar Singh said, “I belong to the SC category and I am a resident of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in Punjab. While I was doing my duty, DIG Surinder Singh Saini and ADGP PK Sinha had filed two false FIRs against me and made several allegations to stop my promotion. I had also taken up the matter with NCSC (Chandigarh office) who directed the Director Bureau of Investigation, Punjab to conduct a fair investigation and submit the report, but no action has been taken in this matter as of now." “Meanwhile, Sangrur Police is regularly raiding my residence and harassing and threatening my family members. On May 5 this year, SHO of Punjab Police raided my house without the permission of the concerned magistrate and misbehaved with my wife and brother. The police also threatened to implicate him in a false case. Not only this, the police officers then snatched three mobile phones from my family members and fled”, DSP Amar added.

Therefore, status quo should be maintained in this case.
