Education dept seeks help of police to open schools closed by people

Education dept seeks the help of police to open schools closed by people Education department sought the help of police to re-open schools which were closed by the people. The people closed these schools as a protest against the education system. Very recently, agitating residents and students along with BKU Ugraha leaders locked the main gate of the school at Hathan village and started an indefinite protest in front of the school. They have demanded that the transfer orders of an economics lecturer should be canceled.  After the villagers locked the school, students also sat on the road near their school to support them. Also Read: School timings changed from October 1 in Punjab. Details Villagers have announced to intensify their agitation if the authorities failed to cancel the transfer. The posts of Principal, Art and Craft and Maths lecturers have been lying vacant. The transfer of an economics lecturer would further deepen the issue of shortage of lecturers in the government school. Also Read: Physical education no more important for Punjab The protestors demanded immediate filling of vacant posts. They also raised slogans against the Education Department. They also said that on one hand, the state government was making repeated claims of providing quality education in government schools.
