Eid Al Adha 2019: On the occasion of Eid 2019, the prayers were concluded in the valley, that too peacefully, on Monday. The Jammu and Kashmir police have stated that no incident of untoward has been recorded, neither in Kashmir nor in Jammu.

“#Eid #prayers concluded #peacefully in various parts of the #valley. No untoward incident reported so far,” said Jammu and Kashmir Police in a tweet.

Likewise, the news agency ANI reported, “NSA Ajit Doval on Monday did a recce of entire SRINAGAR including downtown, Soura, Pampore, Lal chowk, Hazratbal; also of Pampore, Budgam, South Kashmir districts of Pulwama, Awantipora. Eid celebrations were going on peacefully in all areas.”

Meanwhile, Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary, Planning Commission in Srinagar said, “People are coming out and shopping for Eid. A large no. of people came out today. Wherever there were restrictions, they were relaxed. We’re trying to facilitate people who want to travel to Srinagar to meet their dear ones.

Also, he said, “We are trying to provide transport at Civil Airport Srinagar, as well as at TRC (Bus Station) so that people can reach their home without any difficulty.”

Recently, President of India Ram Nath Kovind scrapped the Article 370 following the resolution passed by the Lok Sabha. This led to the abrogation of the special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Likewise, Jammu and Kashmir have now been divided into two Union Territories— Jammu and Kashmir, with the legislature, and Ladakh without legislature assembly.
