Director Shekhar Kapur reveals his struggle with Dyslexia and how AI helped him love numbers
Mumbai, May 9: Notable director Shekhar Kapur took to Twitter to reveal that he suffers from dyslexia, a learning disorder that makes it difficult to read, write, and spell words.
He shared that he has developed a love for visual mathematics with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), but in school, he developed a hatred for Maths because of his dyslexia. Kapur's tweet generated a lot of discussion among netizens, with many sharing their experiences with the disorder and offering support and advice.

"I am dyslexic, developed love for business math because it had a goal. Traditional maths still gives me nightmare," wrote a Twitterati. Another person wrote, "Kudos for awareness and converting into Unfathomable creativity with rare sensitivity!" Another netizen wrote, "Shekhar, you don't need AI, for that, there are other techniques, too."

Kapur is not the only artist, poet, or musician who has struggled with dyslexia. Many famous personalities have spoken out about their dyslexia, including actors Tom Cruise and Keira Knightley, and entrepreneur Richard Branson.
The 2007 Bollywood film "Taare Zameen Par," directed by Aamir Khan, was the first mainstream film to showcase the disease and raise awareness about it.
Kapur has directed several critically acclaimed films, including "Elizabeth," "Bandit Queen," and "Mr. India." His latest project is the British romantic comedy "What's Love Got To Do With It," which premiered at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival last year.
The film's screenplay was written by Jemima Goldsmith, the ex-wife of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. The movie stars Shabana Azmi, Lily James, and Sajal Aly.
