Referencing a notorious streaking incident from the 1974 Oscars, Cena emphasized the importance of costumes by opting not to wear one himself. Host Jimmy Kimmel called Cena onto the stage, expecting him to go through with the stunt. However, Cena chose not to proceed, citing respect for the male body. Kimmel, in his characteristic humor, joked about his own physique. Cena then appeared on stage with an oversized envelope covering his midsection but faced a comical struggle to open it.
Despite the humorous presentation, Cena conveyed the significance of costumes in filmmaking, acknowledging them as crucial elements of storytelling. The Best Costume Design award went to 'Poor Things', marking the film's first win of the night.
