Shahid Kapoor's Controversial Take on Marriage Sparks Debate: Internet divided over fixing partners

New Delhi, June 07: Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has stirred up a storm on social media with his recent comments about marriage during an interview with Film Companion. The 42-year-old actor's idea of marriage did not sit well with many internet users, who found it problematic.

In the interview, Shahid Kapoor expressed his belief that marriage revolves around the concept of a man being a mess and a woman coming in to fix him. However, this perspective drew criticism from various online platforms.

One Reddit user commented, "Playing Kabir Singh doesn't mean you have to continue behaving like that, bro." Another user expressed, "Is this the purpose of women? To fix men? Manchild." A third comment highlighted the importance of equal responsibility in marriage, stating, "It is never a woman's job to fix a man. Marriage should be a partnership where both husband and wife share the responsibility."

Another user questioned the notion of "just becoming a decent person," emphasizing that men being incompetent is no longer acceptable in today's world. Several users pointed out that Shahid Kapoor's statement reflected his character from the film Kabir Singh, which was criticised for its toxic and misogynistic portrayal of romance. They argued that it is 2023 and such views perpetuate outdated stereotypes, leading more women to choose to remain single.

Shahid Kapoor tied the knot with Mira Rajput in July 2015, and they have two children together. On the professional front, the actor was last seen in the crime thriller series Farzi directed by Raj and DK. He also appeared in the sports drama Jersey, where he portrayed the role of a cricketer.

Shahid Kapoor has upcoming projects, including an untitled romantic film alongside Kriti Sanon and the action thriller Bloody Daddy.
