Eyeing national presence, AAP appoints office-bearers in nine states
New Delhi: Following a landslide victory in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is now making all efforts to make its presence felt nationwide. On Monday, the party appointed new office-bearers in nine states.
According to sources, the AAP will soon announce its office-bearers in more states in the coming says.
With the elections in Gujarat due in December, the AAP has appointed Delhi MLA Gulab Singh as the party’s election in-charge. Rajya Sabha candidate Sandeep Pathak has been made the state in-charge.
In Himachal Pradesh, where the Assembly elections are scheduled for November, the AAP has appointed Delhi minister Satyendra Jain as the election in-charge while Durgesh Pathak has been handed the charge of the state affairs of the party.
In Punjab, IIT Delhi Professor Sandeep Pathak replaced Raghav Chadha as Punjab co-in-charge.

Jarnail Singh remains AAP Punjab in-charge while in Haryana, Saurabh Bhardwaj has been appointed AAP election in-charge, Sushil Gupta is in-charge and Mahendra Chowdhary is co-in-charge.
Meanwhile, the AAP on Monday nominated former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh, AAP MLA Raghav Chadha, IIT Delhi faculty Sandeep Pathak, industrialist Sanjeev Arora and educationist Ashok Kumar Mittal to the Rajya Sabha.

The term of five Rajya Sabha members from Punjab — Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa (Shiromani Akali Dal), Partap Singh Bajwa (Congress), Shwait Malik (BJP), Naresh Gujral (SAD) and Shamsher Singh Dullo (Congress) — will expire on April 9. The last date for filing nominations is Monday, while scrutiny of nominations will be done on Tuesday, according to an official release.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed for March 24.
