Farm laws: SKM to meet on November 21 to decide on next course of action

In the wake of the Centre's announcement on repealing the three farm laws, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of the agitating farmers, will be meeting on Sunday (November 21) to decide on the next course of action, including on the MSP issue and the proposed daily tractor march to Parliament during the upcoming Winter Session, SKM core committee member Darshan Pal said. After its decision to repeal the three farm laws, the Centre is now facing pressure from agitating farmer unions and opposition parties to bring in a legislation guaranteeing Minimum Support Price. Ruling BJP MP Varun Gandhi has also joined the chorus saying the agitation will not end till the MSP issue is resolved. A final decision on the future course of the agitation and the MSP issue will be taken at a meeting of the SKM at the Singhu border on Sunday (November 21),” said Darshan Pal. The SKM said its scheduled programmes would continue. It urged farmers to gather in large numbers at all protest sites on the first anniversary of the agitation against the legislations on November 26. In a statement, the SKM, an umbrella body of 40 farmers’ unions, said the struggle would continue to get all demands of the protesting farmers fulfilled and all announced plans were underway.
