Farmer dies at PGI, after protesting in Patiala for two consecutive days

Mukhtiar Singh, 57 died at PGI today after fainting during the protest. Despite heavy rainfall farmers continued to protest at the dharna site at Mehmadpur village on the Patiala-Sangrur road here for the second consecutive day of the protest on Saturday. Mukhtiar Singh, 57, from Mansa fainted at the dharna site. He was taken to Rajindra Hospital as no first aid was available. Later, he was shifted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, PGI, and was diagnosed with hemiplegia with brain haemorrhage. Another farmer of Khiala village, Charna Singh, had an epileptic fit and was rushed to Rajindra Hospital here. The farmers are determined to ask for their rights and are still protesting against the Punjab Government. -PTC News
