As per the announcement by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), the farmers have been staging a nationwide protest on Thursday against the fuel prices hike. The petrol and diesel prices in India hiked again on July 8. Farmers in huge numbers started arriving at protest sites in preparation for their protest against the fuel prices hike on Thursday. Farmers' protest across India against fuel prices hikeAs per the call by Samyukta Kisan Morcha, protests were organised across India on July 8 from 10 am to 12 noon for two hours against the hike in diesel, petrol, and cooking gas prices. Earlier on Wednesday, the petrol prices crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark in Delhi and Kolkata. The SKM has been demanding that the fuel prices be halved in an order to give relaxation to the common man. Over 200 protestors will agitate every day outside the Parliament building demanding repeal of farm laws and a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP).
