FIR registered against SAD leader Bikram Majithia
Mohali: In a major development, an FIR has been lodged against Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia in a drug case at the State Crime Police Station, Mohali. The case has been registered under Sections 25, 27A and 29 NDPS on the report of ADGP Harpreet Sidhu.
The development comes ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections 2022. After the case was registered against Bikram Singh Majithia, former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal slammed the Punjab Government by saying that Congress has always been taking revenge and SAD. "Congress has registered many cases which we fought hard and will continue to fight," he said.
Bikram Majithia had been facing repeated allegations regarding the Drug Case.

Shiromani Akali Dal leaders also alleged that FIR has been registered against Bikram Majithia under the pressure of Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

Recently, SAD had asked Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi and home minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa to make Punjabis aware of the complaint they were probing against former minister Bikram Singh Majithia even as it asserted that the government was offering promotions and even rewards to police officers for the arrest of Majithia.
SAD Spokesman Maheshinder Singh Grewal, in reaction to the CM’s statement regarding the letter written by the Bureau of Investigations (BOI) head S K Asthana to the DGP in which the officer has pointed out the illegalities the BOI is being forced to commit to proceeding against Bikram Majithia, said the letter was an indictment of the crude and illegal manner in which the government was indulging in vendetta politics.
Stating that even though CM had asserted that there would not be any vendetta in his tenure “the exact opposite is happening. The situation has become such that after three successive officers of the BOI have refused to obey the illegal orders of the government all that remains is for CM Channi and home minister Sukhjinder Randhawa to take over the powers of the Station House Officer (SHO)”.
