Former BJP MP Ashwini Chopra passes away
Chandigarh: Former BJP MP Ashwini Chopra on Saturday passed away at the age of 63 at a private hospital in Gurgaon following a prolonged illness. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the death of senior journalist and former BJP MP.
PM Modi took to twitter and wrote: "Anguished by the passing away of Shri Ashwini Kumar Chopra Ji. He will be remembered for his contribution to the media world. He worked diligently as a public representative and undertook many community welfare initiatives. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Om Shanti."
Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said in a tweet: "The sad news of the death of Shri Ashwini Chopra Ji, former BJP MP and editor of Punjab Kesari Delhi was received from Karnal. Your life as a skilled politician and successful journalist will continue to guide all of us. God bless the departed soul."

As per report, Ashwini Chopra was suffering from ‘terminal cancer’. He had been admitted to the Medanta Hospital for about three weeks ago. He was elected as an MP from Karnal, Haryana, in 2014. Chopra was survived by his wife and three children.
