"Wherever I am today is due to the farmers, mother tongue Punjabi, and all Punjabis. My singing was also loved by the farmers which enabled me to get this award today," he added.
He further said that "Today, the "annadata" of the entire country, including Punjab, are on the streets, seeking justice from those who are depriving the farmers of their rights."
"Their future is in dark. Therefore, I do not want to receive the 'Shiromani Award'. My family and I have decided not to accept this award," he said.
