Expressing solidarity with farmers, Harbhajan Mann not to accept Shiromani "Gayak" award

Harbhajan Mann not to accept Shiromani "Gayak" award to protest against Farm laws 2020: The farmers from across the country have been protesting against the farm laws 2020 at Delhi borders. The farmers protest that started from Punjab and Haryana not only reached the national level but became a global movement.

Amid farmers protest at Delhi borders against the farm laws 2020, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is all set to meet Amit Shah.

The farmers are getting immense support from across the globe.

From Punjab's entertainment industry, political fraternity to the sports industry, everyone has started raising a voice against the farm laws 2020.

Meanwhile, Punjabi singer Harbhajan Mann has lent support to the farmers and decided not to accept the "Shiromani Gayak (Singer)" award from Punjab's language department.

Sharing a post on his Facebook account, he wrote that "I got selected for the 'Shiromani Gayak' award in the annual Shiromani Awards given by the Language Department. I am grateful to the Advisory Board for selecting me for this prestigious award."

"Wherever I am today is due to the farmers, mother tongue Punjabi, and all Punjabis. My singing was also loved by the farmers which enabled me to get this award today," he added.

He further said that "Today, the "annadata" of the entire country, including Punjab, are on the streets, seeking justice from those who are depriving the farmers of their rights."

"Their future is in dark. Therefore, I do not want to receive the 'Shiromani Award'. My family and I have decided not to accept this award," he said.
